It wasn't until late 2021 that I *really* got deep into what angels are, how they’re separated and the complete mythos behind them. They’re not just some humans with halos, they’re divine emissaries, each with different names, titles and tiers where they belong to. The 7 Archangels, the Fallen Angels, the Watchers and the Angel Hierarchy. These are all things that have inspired me, and I want to put them, amongst other things, into a shrine where I get to walk about it for fuck knows how long. And if you’re interested in that stuff, welcome^^. If not, well- You can always head back lmao.
I’m not going to talk about Demons, so- Sorry, I guess? Not interested in that as much.
What are Angels?
Angels appear in multiple Abrahamic religions, like Judaism, Islam, Christianity, among others. They go by many names, first originating from the translation of the Biblical Hebrew term malʼākh, denoting simply "messenger". The word angel arrives in modern English from Old English engel (with a hard g) and the Old French angele.[Both of these derive from Late Latin angelus, which in turn was borrowed from Late Greek ἄγγελος angelos (literally "messenger") [Ref]In various texts, Angels serve as messengers, or actors of the Will of God. They enact various acts throughout texts, giving messages to humans, as well as guarding humans throughout difficult tasks. From now on, I’ll be referring to Angels from a Judaism/Christian viewpoint, as that’s the one I have the most experience/research on.
Angelic Hierarchy
Angels are divided in tiers, or choirs, from 3 to 1, with 3 being the most close or active on Human Lives, and 1 being the closest to the Creator.
Also, some Tiers are said to have "Leader" who guide and protect members of that Choir. This Leader can differ from interpretation thought interpretation. I'll be giving my own interpretation as to what these tiers and angels do, but that does not mean that this will be the only thing these Choirs do.
Angels
Guardian Angels or Common Angels are the closest angels to humanity; in the sense they are the one that most interact with Humanity.Guardian Angels, as their namesake states, guard humans, as well as protect them from evil forces. They also serve as messenger angels, sending messages and letters to humanity.
Leader: Archangel Gabriel and Guardian Barachiel.
Archangels
Archangels have the role as protectors of humanity, but have much more individual power than the other angel ranks. They're in a rather odd spot across tiers, because they work as both a Title and a Choir. In my interpretation, Archangels are chosen from all over the other Choirs to serve as Leaders and protectors.There are various Archangels, but there's either 4 or 7 Main Archangels:
-Michael(the Warrior)
-Gabriel(the Messenger)
-Raphael(the Healer)
-Uriel (The Light of Wisdom)
And
-Azrael(The Reaper)
-Jophiel (The Beauty)
-Zadkiel(The Loyal)
Other Archangels that are said to be part of the 7 are Cassiel, Phanuel, Remiel, Sariel, among others.
